World Airport Awards: The winner is ...

Seoul's Incheon Airport achieved top five finishes in eight out of 10 categories.

Skytrax, the U.K.-based air travel consultancy, announced last month the world's best airports at its annual World Airport Awards, with Seoul's Incheon airport claiming the top prize for the second time, after first winning the award in 2009.
The awards are based on surveys conducted by Skytrax polling 12 million passengers over a nine-month period.
A total of 39 airport services and products were examined from 388 airports across the world.
"After analyzing survey data, we see that consistency of the passenger experience at Incheon International Airport is behind this year's success," said Edward Plaisted, chairman of Skytrax.
Four of the top five best airports are from Asia: Seoul, Singapore, Hong Kong and Beijing.

Incheon wins, Hong Kong falls to third

The awards have been dominated by Hong Kong International Airport -- it came first eight times in 11 years -- before Singapore Changi Airport and Incheon International Airport upped their games in recent years.
Last year, Hong Kong snatched the award from 2010's winner Singapore Changi Airport, but despite winning two of the eight categories this year -- best airport terminal cleanliness and dining experience -- it gave way to Incheon International Airport in Seoul.

Other awards

Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong wins again this year for the best airport hotel award.
Singapore Airport is top for transit passengers. Named the best international transit airport with the best airport leisure amenities, its swimming pool was a particular favorite.
Hong Kong International Airport won the Best Airport Restaurants award with choices like the one-Michelin-star Hung's Delicacies and Asia's first Hereford Beefstouw Steak House.
