Ajayi spent last season on loan at non-League club, Dartford FC. But after leaving Charlton in the summer, he spent some time with Norwich City for whom he made a few appearances during pre-season before he was invited to have a trial at Arsenal.
The youngster impressed in the pre-season games he played for The Gunners against Blackburn Rovers and West Brom, and even got on the score sheet against the former, prompting the club to offer him a contract.
Ajayi is reported to have been a part of coach John Obuh's provisional squad for the Fifa Under-20 World Cup earlier this year.
