Gunmen Kill 160, Abduct 10 Women in Zamfara

Gunmen has killed no fewer than 160 people and kidnapped 10 married women in Zamfara within three months.

The Zamfara State Governor, Abdulazez Yari, who said this on Monday, noted that the attacks were carried out in different villages of the state.

The governor also said the hoodlums, who continued to terrorise villages in parts of the state, stole no fewer than 6,000 cows and 4,000 sheep within the period.

While addressing members of the state House of Assembly on security situation in Gusau, Yari condemned the attacks.

He stated that the state government had spent some of its resources on ensuring security and urged the Federal Government to provide assistance.

“The situation has caused disaffection between residents of the affected villages and the state government. The state government is doing its best. Federal Government has to deploy more security personnel to the state to protect lives and property of the people,” he added.

Speaker of the state assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Rikijin, said, “We will consult with other state houses of assembly and the National Assembly to ensure justice, equity and fair play in the country.”
