Spanish
newspaper El COnfidencial, has revealed how Tottenham chairman Daniel
Levy, attempted to block Mesut Ozil’s £42.5m move to bitter rivals
Arsenal.
Levy was shocked when he heard that the German playmaker was on his
way to the Emirates, after Madrid told him he was not for sale during
negotiations to sell Gareth Bale. The Spurs chairman felt betrayed and
called Real president Florentino Perez on Monday and tried to block the
move.
Perez is said to have politely told him that the deal was all but done and Ozil would be an Arsenal player.
It is also believed that Levy had delayed Bale move to Real Madrid,
so that the Gunners would not get any of Karim Benzema, Mesut Ozil or
Angel Di Maria.
